The last few times I got a notice about a Lightroom update and downloaded it, the update detected my Pantip copy and froze it. I had to delete and reload.

Has anyone had any trouble accepting this up date to their Pantip copy?

I turned off Norton firewall and antivirus.

I downloaded from Adobe, ran install, got same error msg.

i downloaded from Vuze (Torrent), ran install, got same error msg; Norton still turned off.

I attempted both 3 times yesterday and 1 once this morning. That make 4 time from each source. So I have gotten this msg 8 times now.

I do not know what to try next.

The solution of your problem seems to be in the last 3 posts of the following thread :

That is what I thought yesterday before I ran it 3 times and LR 3.5 failed to load 3 times. Then I posted here.

The posting said:

The problem was solved by using the WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEAN UP UTILITY
http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html
Simply select the Adobe Lightroom from the list and delete it.

Running it did not give me a list of anything. It just whipped throughand said click finish. A search could not find it anywhere on my computer. I just ran it 3 more times; can't find it even though it says INSTALLED.

I assume I got the right program. But how could I go wrong (see screen shot and download where the red arrow is)

Now if I am supposed to delete all other lightrooms, I have not done that. I have 2.6 and 3.2 both installed. I could remove them by normal means, but I thought that was not necessary.

I have also searched for any partial load of LR 3.5 to see if that might be the problem. Can not find any.

I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO delete 3.2 in case 3.5 doesn't load and then I have to go through reinstalling 3.2. Since 3.5 is a brand new total self contained program, I would not think removing 3.2 would be required. And no one else has said they had to do that.

I just tried to load it on an external HD that does not have and has never had any Adobe product installed. Same error msg:

LIGHTROOM.EXE not marked for installation

There is something else going on; I do not see the logic of that meaning delete older version. If that were the case, I would expect some kind of msg saying ALREADY INSTALLED or some kind of conflict msg.

Problem is probably due to residues in the windows registry. Revo Uninstaller cleans the registery but you have to select manually the entries he finds.

Of course backup your catalog files before.

So no else has installed 3.5 without deleting 3.2? That is the question.

I actually have 4 versions of lightoom installed. If I could install 3 updates after V2.0 without removing older versions, why can't I install 3.5?

Specially since 3.5 seems to be a stand alone program.

I turn the question right back to you.
I have had iTunes on the same computer for 4 years to sync my Apple mobile devices.
There is an update for iTunes at least 4 times a year, that means I have updated iTunes a minimum of 16 times.
About two month ago during the lasted update, none of my Apple devices were recognized when I plugged them into my computer USB port.

I worked on this problem for weeks on end, using Apple support, it seems I was the only one with this problem after the latest iTunes update release. I even did a system restore and switched back to a previous versions of iTunes which use to work, but now that was not working as well and would not recognize and of my Apple mobile devices when plugged them into my computer.

I continued to Google for an answer by changing my search words around describing the problem different ways. Low and behold, there was only 1 other person with the same problem as me.

That person said it was a software bug and without going into details he stated, I would have to remove all my Apple software installed on my computer. iTunes, Quicktime, Apple mobile device server and more. And so I did, and when re-installing iTunes it automatically installed all the other software I had removed from my system.

Low and behold that did the trick. I lost no data in the process and now I am a happy camper. Why is it that only that guy and me were the only two I could find who had this problem?

Why is it that I have updated 16 times without having to go through all this uninstall crap?

I did not want to spend any more brain power on why it is like this, I already did that when trying to figure out how to correct this problem.

Want my advice, uninstall and re-install, or keep plugging away the hours figuring out why.
