I'm just about to have a new one built. Here's a useful thread that gives some tips about processor/card/motherboard speeds.

The manager at Good Speed upstairs in Computer Plaza knows his stuff REALLY well and will listen to what you think too. I went to him with spec's for a PC I wanted mainly for video editing and he helped me tune it to get the best bang for my baht. He was very insightful particularly with the video card I'd been recommended to buy, as he said it would be overkill for 2d graphics and sold me a cheaper one (which has been working a treat since I bought it last August) The prices are competitive with everywhere else too.

Thanks Kevin. I am a Goodspeed customer but usually use Panthip's branch. The Computer Plaza setup has changed with much of the stuff that was upstairs having been relocated to a store outside between the plaza and the car park. Maybe I'll go see him. Video card overkill seems a common error from what I've read.

Don't forget the Flea Market!

RE:   Best graphics card

What worked for me when I had my computer built and decided upon NVIDIA was to make a comparison matrix of their cards and capabililities.

It was a failrly simple job because I knew I would not want video or 3D capabilities. All the info was easily extracted from the NVIDIA web site. Once I eliminated gaming cards, etc., I had a nice compact list cards/specs/capabilities to examine. I ignored the fact that I watch DVDs on the computer as I knew whatever card I picked would do that.

I used U.S. internet prices for a premliminary ranking. Then I took my preferrence list to Good Speed Pantip to see what was available in Thailand. It has been 18 months now and I am still happy
