STUFF TO BORROW We have track lighting and clip on lights, backgrounds, display boards and a small light tent available for members who regularly attend meetings to borrow at very moderate terms. For details, PM Wyndham by following the link to Private Messaging below.
SMUGMUG DISCOUNT LINK If you're feeling that it's time to get a site of your own, one of the options to review is Smugmug ( check out Zenfolio too). I use Smugmug and like it for the ability to customise almost everything and to use your own URL, thereby setting you free from dependence on any one host for the future. If you want to try out Smugmug you can get $5 off by using my referral link which is here and, yes I'll get a freebie too when it comes to renewing my sub next year!
If you are an active member and would like to have your site listed here please PM Wyndham.

CURRENT ASSIGNMENTS
1. Graffiti & Street Art
2. Five of Your Own Favourite Images
Bring a maximum of 5 entries per subject to the next meeting on a USB drive (2000 pixels on the long side is plenty big enough) - please DO NOT bring CDs/DVDs or CF cards.
The first meeting of 2012 will be at Airport Greenery Hotel on Februrary 8th. New members who don't know the location can follow the link below to see the map or click on the calendar entry which can be found on the cmphotogroup.com home page. I will try to post an agenda a few days in advance of each meeting but don't count on it! What you can count on is that we'll try to come up with something interesting every time and to that end your ideas are needed. Add your comments to this blog by following the link where you'll also find 2012's first assignment subject. Incidentally, Shutterbug has posted a new ad of interest to Nikon users in the For Sale And Wanted Forum. Read More »
Are High Dynamic Range photos appropriate for illustrating news? That's the debate that's been started by the Washington Post's use of an HDR image on its front page in January. Sean Elliot, president of the National Press Photographers Association came down firmly against it, saying, 'HDR is not appropriate for documentary photojournalism.' John Omvik, Marketing VP with HDR software maker Unified Color understandably disagrees. He's written us a response arguing that what we see is closer to HDR than, say, a mono photo shot with Tri-X film.
